An experienced thoracic surgeon based in Dallas, Texas, Dr. David Mason specializes in minimally invasive thoracic surgery, as well as surgery for lung cancer, emphysema, malignant mesothelioma, esophageal disease and cancer, lung transplantation, and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). Dr. David Mason is certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery and is licensed in Texas.
Between 2004 and 2014, Dr. Mason served at the Cleveland Clinic, in the Taussig Cancer Center, the Transplantation Center, and the Department of Thoracic & Cardiovascular Surgery. He later served for 7 years as Chief of the Department of Thoracic Surgery and Lung Transplantation at Baylor University Medical Center. He currently practices at Methodist Dallas Medical Center.
Alongside his career as a surgeon, Dr. Mason also held several academic positions, including assistant professor of thoracic surgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital and adjunct clinical professor at Texas A&M University College of Medicine. Furthermore, he is the author of numerous publications, including research papers and book chapters.
Dr. David Mason earned his medical degree from the Columbia College of Physicians & Surgeons in 1994 and completed his residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. He is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Association for Thoracic Surgery, the American College of Chest Physicians, and the International Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation.
